Along the way, large roofing companies subcontracted their jobs to him. He installed the same materials with the same labor, then watched those companies charge homeowners thousands of dollars more than the work actually cost. The difference was overhead — salespeople, office staff, and big advertising budgets. Homeowners were paying for the company's machinery, not their roof.
